I'm sick of this shiznit
I know they always say, "Same song, second verse, a little bit louder, a little bit worse." As far as I'm concerned, "they" can shut their damn mouths. I wouldn't necessarily qualify this as worse, but I am for sure sick of it. When we moved to NOVA last year, we were dumped upon with feet and feet of snow. Thankfully, those feet and feet of snow decided to move just a little bit north of us this year. All I've heard for the past 12 months was, "OMG! Can you believe that snow we had last year?! That is completely atypical for this area. We NEVER get that much snow! It usually only snows once per winter here!" I call BS! I think you are all full of crap, most especially you, Mr. Realtor! It has essentially been snowing on and off since Christmas day. It's in our forecast at least once a week, sometimes even more than that. We were surprised with snow on Wednesday morning and then dumped upon again Wednesday night. Guess what, friends?! It's snowing again! OMG! We had around a foot of total accumulation on Wednesday, and now it's dumping on us again. I believe the forecasters were wrong when the Friday forecast called for a 40% chance of flurries around the area. I'm just ready to see a sky that is any shade other than gray. It's depressing, it's wet, it's cold, and I freaking hate it! If anyone wants to visit hell, stop by my house cause I'm in it! So much for looking for the silver lining in things...

It's that time of year again!
I know you are all waiting with bated breath, as I am, for the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics tonight. After the opening ceremonies two summers ago in China, I'm really not sure how Canada's going to top it. I guess they'll come up with something, eh? I, personally, am looking forward to the skiing events, seeing as how that's the popular mode of transportation around these parts for the past few days. I know J is getting really excited and already setting the TiVo for the curling events. Despite all my feminine instincts, I am not jumping up and down for the ice skating/ice dancing events. I guess I may have out grown those events because they just don't hold the same entertainment value as bobsledding and Alpine skiing. Well, as we are united as a country against all other countries in the world, the time has come to grab your Quebecois poutine and xoosum or Nanaimo bars and settle in on the couch to watch huge men in ridiculous outfits hurl a weight down a frozen alley. If you want to see this in person, I can find J some ridiculous clothes and give him a turkey to throw down the street. Stay warm, San Diego!

Hell hath no furry!
It looks like it's a WHO DAT nation for 2010, and apparently it was true that if the Saints won the Super Bowl, hell would freeze over. In the old stomping grounds, everyone awoke this Monday morning all bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to hit the highway for another case of the Monday in their respective offices. But the Big Man Upstairs said "Whoa, there tiger! Before you hit the door, here are a couple of inches of ice and snow. Take the day on me!" Sooooo, NO SCHOOL in Memphis or Little Rock! All of the teachers I know are throwing a private party while the kids are freezing their little rears off while constructing their precious snowmen.
However... The storm that is raging over the midsouth today is heading this way tomorrow. The good news is that we are supposed to get another 8-10 inches on top of the 2 feet we registered this weekend. I guess the best place to be, either in reality or in my mind, is NOLA. Laissez les bon temps roulez!

The calm before the storm.
I know that it is hard for you all to believe, but we are supposed to get more snow this weekend. I know I have said this before, but I don't know if you really know what "more snow" means. It means, in the city, the weathermen are predicting 18". Unfortunately, I don't live "in the city." Last time the weathermen predicted a substantial amount of snow, it was about 12". That was the same time we got 2' at my house. I really just can't wait for it all...

So in the calm before the storm, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood and take some photos. The dog also needed to get some of her energy out and shivering through the woods seemed like the best idea. To me, not to her. :) Anyway, these are a few of the products of my nature walk. This tree, I believe, feels the same about snow. The only way to deal with it is to roll over and die!

ing really will make a reappearance at some point.
I actually titled this last photo because I think it's pretty nifty. I call it "Fire and Ice." This was on the bridge railing along one of the trails around the house. The melted ice trails along the wood lead directly to the ice block, but the trails look a lot like flames, in my opinion.
On a different note, this weekend is THE football weekend! I must say that I'm a little torn between my alliances for the big game. I am a big PM fan, just cause I think he and his bros are so darn cute! I mean, what adorable boys (even if they are all grown adults). On the other hand, I think the Saints are kind of the Rudy team of the season. I mean, who really even knows the last time the Saints even went to the Super Bowl?! I also have many a friend who hail from that drunken region of the world, which makes me more inclined to cheer for the SB underdogs. But here's my biggest reason to hope the Saints pull off this Hail Mary...
There could be nothing better than a Super Bowl win on 2/7 for New Orleans because there really could be no better way to kick off Mardi Gras! All I know is that if this phenomenon actually does occur, Mr. Chico won't be sober until 2011.
